St. FX University says it has suspended the first year student charged in connection with a
human trafficking investigation by York Regional Police in Ontario.
The school’s Vice-President of Students Elizabeth Yeo says it is unaware of any allegations of criminal activity associated with the campus community. She adds the situation will continue to be monitored closely. She says the University’s first priority is the safety of the campus community and ensuring it is free from sexualized violence.
20-year-old Justin Barrett of Brampton, Ontario was arrested by police last month. He faces a number of charges, including human trafficking, possession and distribution of child pornography and luring a child under 18.
