There are five new cases of COVID-19 in the province. Nova Scotia Health and Wellness officials say two cases are in Central Zone. One is related to travel outside of Atlantic Canada; the other is under investigation.
There are also two infections in Western Zone and one in Northern Zone; all are close contacts of previously reported cases. The number of active cases of COVID-19 continue to drop. There are currently 57 active cases, down from 59 Sunday.
Nova Scotia Health Authority’s labs completed 1,209 Nova Scotia tests on Sunday.
The province’s Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Robert Strang says they are seeing a shift in epidemiology in Nova Scotia; most of the new cases are either related to travel or close contacts of a previously reported case. He says this highlights the risk of reintroduction of COVID-19 associated with non-essential travel. As we approach the holiday season, Strang encourages Nova Scotians to limit social contacts and non-essential travel and continue to follow all the other public health measures.
