The boards of the East Coast Credit Union, Acadian Credit Union, iNova Credit Union, and Teachers Plus Credit Union are recommending a merger to their respective members.
Ken Shea, CEO and president of East Coast Credit Union, said he feels the merger will continue to grow the credit union system in Nova Scotia, create a more sustainable organization that can serve the members of all the credit unions involved, and help provide better access to banking services for all members.
Should the merger go through, all parties would come under the East Coast Credit Union banner, with Shea noting they are looking to keep some reflection of the past for the branches. A vote on the merger will take place in the fall, possibly late September or early October.
