Government-funded research at Nova Scotia Universities is having a significant impact on the province’s economy.
St. FX President Andy Hakin, who is also chair of the Council of Nova Scotia University Presidents says information the council has pullled together shows university research brings in more than $300 million in federal money.
Hakin says each university has taken on the province’s Action for Health Plan. It’s an initiative to improve healthcare services in Nova Scotia. Hakin says at St. FX, the school is building the Victor Phillip Dahdaleh Hall, but its also increasing the number of seats for its School of Nursing. Hakin says there’s also a number of research programs on health underway.
