The Guysborough and Area Food Bank celebrated the grand opening of its new home on Saturday at #10, Green Street in Guysborough. On hand for the event was MLA Lloyd Hines who had helped secure $75,000 in provincial funding for the project. Hines says this project is the result of generosity from many groups and individuals
MODG Warden Vernon Pitts told those gathered for the event, how pleased he was with the community effort—food bank volunteers, local businesses, municipal staff, the Province of Nova Scotia–that had brought this project to fruition, “Many hands make light work.” The MODG contributed $100,000 to the project which will serve those in need across the municipality.
Food Bank Secretary Elizabeth Connolly said the new food bank was a dream come true and thanked the many people who were involved in the project.
