Guysborough Warden Vernon Pitts Highlights some Positives in a Challenging Year

The Warden of Guysborough says while it’s been a difficult year for everyone, there were a few

bright spots. For instance, Vernon Pitts said he is proud of how Guysborough residents handled themselves during the pandemic. He said COVID-19 had an obvious impact on businesses and investment projects in the area but those projects continue to move forward.

2020 also saw the closing and decommissioning of the Sable offshore, with Pitts noting the deadline for a final investment decision for the Goldboro LNG project is June 30, 2021.

As for highlights, Pitts pointed to the new building for the Guysborough and Area Food Bank, starting work on the new Salsman marine park,  the start of the community enhancement program for Canso, the construction of a new compost facility at the Guysborough waste management site, and the approvals of 12 projects under the municipal green fund.
