It’s an effort to build community following the COVID-19 pandemic.
On the third Sunday of each month, the Havre Boucher Fire Department, has been holding a breakfast. Deputy Fire Chief Joe Sampson says the next breakfast is coming up next weekend, on Sunday, the 21st at the Havre Boucher Community Centre, upstairs from the fire hall.
Sampson says they hold these breakfasts from September to May. Sampson says they began this monthly event just over a year ago.
This event is also an opportunity for the fire department to recruit new members. Representations from other fire department will also be on hand to raise awareness about their brigades. The RCMP will also be at the event. Mary MacIntosh will be singing Christmas Carols, and there’s an invitation for Santa Claus to appear.
There will also be two draws, a 50-50 and a second where first prize is an ATV and second prize is a hand-crafted guitar.
