The Helping the Helpers awareness and education day is set for this Saturday.
Organizer John Garth MacDonald said this is the ninth iteration of the event, which aims to help end the stigma associated with mental health illness and injury.
MacDonald said they create a safe environment for those who attend the day-long event, noting there will be two psychologists as well as therapy dogs on hand.
The event will include featured speakers, such as a spouses panel discussion, the Worker`s Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, children of first responders, and first responders themselves.

The event is sponsored by the Worker’s Compensation Board of Nova Scotia, Tema Foundation, and 989xfm. Doors open at 7, and the day runs from 8 – 5.
