yesterday. A release from the government stated O’Regan checked on the progress of the Bayside Travel Centre and other infrastructure projects in the area.

 

Chief PJ Prosper said the Bayside Travel Centre is expected to open in October. He said the day was about recognizing all of the partners and persons who help bring the community to its current position. The facility will include the community’s gaming centre, a fueling station, a trucker’s lounge, convenience store, and two quick service restaurants.

 

Prosper said Paq’tnkek previously received $2.9 million from the community opportunity readiness program for infrastructure costs related to Bayside and a further $1 million for the build itself.

 

O’Regan also visited the construction site of a new well, for which Indigenous Services Canada invested $430,000. The project includes the installation of a well pump, construction of a new pump house, installation of 375 metres of water main, mechanical and electrical works, and associated site work.
