Cape Breton Canso’s incoming MP is making preparations.
Liberal Mike Kelloway won the local riding in the federal election on October 21. Since the
election, Kelloway said he’s met with a House of Commons liaison officer to set up an office in terms human resources and equipment. There was also an orientation with items such as understanding ethical procedures as an MP, expectations of an MP, and general rules and regulations.
He visited Inverness County and met with county council shortly after the election, noting there will be more local visits in the next few weeks to visit Antigonish, Guysborough, Richmond, and Inverness to thank people for their support and to introduce himself as an MP.
Kelloway also plans on an initiative he coined as a roaming office. When he is in the constituency, he plans on visiting a different community one day a week to be able to serve residents directly.
The House of Commons will reconvene on December 5.
