Inverness County Councillor Jim Mustard wants Discussions with Province about Before and After Program Care Program

Sep 9, 2019 | Local News

Inverness County Councillor Jim Mustard maintains that the provincial government needs to realize volunteers and councillors aren’t in a position to quarterback programs like the Before and After Care Program.

Last July, the Department of Communities, Cultures and Heritage approached the Municipality of Inverness County about setting up a Before and After Program at Inverness Education Centre and Academy. The program would have to be facilitated through a community partner.

Mustard said the Before and After Program – which provides care to pre-primary kids before and after school – is a great idea, and he’d like to have a meeting with the province about how to make it happen. However, he said having volunteers and municipal staff take the lead on it was “stupid.”
