Inverness County issues mandatory water order for Mabou residents on municipal system

Jul 28, 2026 | Local News

The Municipality of Inverness County issued a mandatory water conservation directive for all Mabou residents connected to the municipal system.

The municipality stated there is some water discoloration in the production well, adding they turned off the well, which will be flushed today. Clean, safe drinking water will be supplied from a water storage tank at the water treatment plant. The directive took effect immediately and will remain in place until the well has been flushed and water storage tank level returns.

Water conservation tips include taking short showers and avoiding baths, turning off taps when brushing teeth or washing dishes, only running dishwashers and washing machines with full loads, and avoiding non-essential outdoor water use.

Canadian Radio Awards: 989 XFM Small Market Station of The Year

Broadcast Dialogue has announced the winners of the inaugural Canadian Radio Awards, which we’ve dubbed “The Howards” after our publisher emeritus Howard Christensen.

When Howard, a radio veteran and one of the original Broadcast News anchors, founded Broadcast Dialogue in 1992, he saw a need for both timely delivery of Canadian broadcast industry news, but also recognized the importance of creating a sense of community.

989 XFM is very proud to be the winner of the 2020 Station of Year – Small Market award.
