A participant in the Coady Institute’s Diploma in Development Leadership Program says receiving the Katherine Flemming International Development Award means a lot, that her work as a female leader to empower young women and girls in her community is being recognized. Prossy Nantongo, a Program Manager in Uganda with Reach One Touch One Ministries and Beautiful World Canada, says the award is also a platform to build her confidence. Nantongo received the award during the recent St. FX Homecoming weekend; it is presented annually to one female participant in the Diploma in Development Leadership Program.

Reach One Touch One Ministries and Beautiful World Canada provide scholarships to young girls living in poverty. After they complete their studies, Nantongo helps these women make the transition from school to work, ensuring they have the tools to find jobs.
Nantongo says taking the Coady’s Diploma program is a great opportunity to improve on her skills as a leader.
Nantongo says she has also learned many forms of peaceful advocacy that can inform the world. She says identifying the many gifts and talents these women in the community possess is also key, allowing them to move forward with their own development together.
