A local athlete has received a provincial honour. Kristina Richard has been named the Special Olympics Nova Scotia Female Athlete of the Year. Richard, a member of the Eastern Highlands team, has been competing in the sport of Athletics for eight years. Over that time she has become one of the best all-around athletes in the province.
She competes annually at the Special Olympics provincial summer games. She was also part of Team Nova Scotia at the National Special Olympics Games in Vancouver in 2014, picking up one Gold, three Silver and one Bronze Medal.
