Local artists Mary Beth Carty, Dave Gunning and Moira and Claire Nominated for Canadian Folk Music Awards

Several artists with ties to the local area have been nominated for Canadian Folk Music Awards.

Antigonish County native Mary Beth Carty has been nominated for Traditional Album of the Year for her record “Crossing the Causeway”. Another Antigonish County artist, Moira and Claire are in the running for Single of the Year for “Delaney’s Dad”.

Pictou County’s Dave Gunning is a finalist for English Songwriter of the Year for and Solo Artist of the Year for “The Same Storm:”

The awards ceremony will be held in April in St. John’s, Newfoundland and Labrador.
