Local author, Author and Volunteer Silver Donald Cameron passes

Well-known local author, activist and volunteer Silver Donald Cameron has died. Cameron died in Halifax yesterday, after being diagnosed with lung cancer.

Cameron, who lived in D’escousse, Richmond County was a former journalist, university teacher, playwright and documentary filmmaker.

He was a recipient of the Order of Canada and the Order of Nova Scotia. He was also awarded the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Medal.

His latest book, “Blood in the Water: A True Story of Revenge in the Maritimes” will be released this summer.

In his community, Cameron was an original board member of the Development Isle Madame Association and was one of the founders of Telile; Isle Madame Community Television.
