The provincial government announced the first investments under the Municipal Innovation
Program, which involves funding four projects affecting 17 municipalities.
The approved projects support the creation or improvement of regional services, infrastructure, land-use planning and other innovative approaches to shared priorities.
The province offered $375,000 for an Eastern Nova Scotia Regional Land Use Planning project, which involves the CBRM, the towns of Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury, municipalities of Antigonish, Inverness, Richmond, and Victoria counties.
The province also offered over $175,000 for the Strait Area Inter-Municipal IT Service, which applies to the counties of Antigonish, Victoria and Inverness, the towns of Antigonish and Port Hawkesbury, and the District of St. Mary’s.
