The local branch of the Canadian Union of Postal Workers are on the picket lines today.
Laurie MacNeill, shop steward with Antigonish Local 9 CUPW, said the postal workers are
participating in the rotating strikes that started about three weeks ago across Canada.
MacNeill said this is the first rotating strike in Antigonish, which totalled around 30 people. She said they also had people last night around midnight blocking mail trucks. The workers are striking because they are in negotiations for their collective agreement, MacNeill noted.
CUPW locals are on strike in Ontario, BC, Quebec, and other parts of Nova Scotia such New Glasgow, Pictou and Port Hawkesbury.
