Lorne MacDonald announces Candidacy for Mulgrave Mayor in Municipal Election

Sep 1, 2020 | Local News

Former Mulgrave Mayor Lorne MacDonald wants his old job back.  MacDonald has announced he is running for Mayor of the town in this fall’s municipal election.  MacDonald, who lost in the election four years ago to Ralph Hadley, says he decided to become a candidate after receiving encouragement from a number of town residents.
MacDonald says he has compiled a list of priorities he’d like to see during his term in office.
MacDonald is also proposing a review of the town’s bylaws to determine if they’re up to date and enforceable.  MacDonald says he has some ideas on expanding the town’s tax base, including re-zoning Robie Street from industrial to residential to encourage home construction. MacDonald says another option would be to develop an incubator mall at the Mulgrave Memorial Center to entice business development.
