Central Avenue, the main street that runs through the community of Inverness is in for a major upgrade.

The Municipality of the County of Inverness has announced Phase One of the Inverness Central Avenue Rebuild Project is set to begin construction in late June. It involves a full reconstruction of Central Avenue which also includes a fully reconstructed roadway and stormwater systems in partnership with the province; improved sidewalks, multi-use paths and crosswalks; and streetscape and beautification enhancements. There’s also new water and wastewater piping, and replacement of a wastewater lift station near the Central Avenue trail crossing.

Phase one will be from the intersection of Broad Cove Banks Road to James Street. Construction will continue through December.

Future phases planned continue from James Street to the Inverness County Centre for the Arts driveway and a new wastewater lift station at the ICCA driveway.
