event, which begins at 6 p.m. at Chisholm Park will include remarks by several speakers. Participants will then march to the RCMP detachment for a brief vigil. One of the organizers of the event, Chris Frazer says the march is in response to the violent dispute over an Indigenous-led lobster fishery in southwestern Nova Scotia. Frazer, who is an instructor at St. FX, says he was struck by the reaction of Indigenous students in his classrooms to what was taking place in Digby County.
Frazer says while the focus of the march will be on the Indigenous fishery in southwestern Nova Scotia, it is also in support of other similar fisheries that are opening up elsewhere in the province.
