been about $15,000 spent for some unexpected capital improvements to the marina.
Town council approved covering expenses for emergency capital improvements up to $20,000 from its operating surplus.
Although the province’s accelerated vaccine schedule means things are opening up more quickly than when council first planned infrastructure work downtown, Ryan says the work is running a bit ahead of schedule.
While there is a lot of infrastructure work going on, the town of Pictou is open for business. Mayor Jim Ryan says the work is going forward with as little disruption as possible.
A modified version of the Pictou Lobster Carnival weekend begins Thursday, the Summer Musical Showcase is back two nights a week at the Marina, and there are some new food options at the Waterfront kiosks, including Syrian dishes and sweet and savoury crepes.
