The Strait Area Chamber of Commerce has a new Executive Director. Misty MacDonald takes

over from Susan Fox, who has been acting Executive Director since the departure of Amanda Mombourquette in the spring. Fox remains as Membership and Events Coordinator for the Chamber. MacDonald has worked in variety of businesses in the area for the past 25 years. MacDonald, in a letter to the chamber membership says through that experience, along with being a small business owner herself, she appreciates the valuable role the Strait Area Chamber plays in providing networking and educational opportunities, business advocacy, support and promotion for their members.
She adds while some local businesses have survived and thrived during the pandemic, there are many others that will need extra support. MacDonald says part of her focus in the coming months will be to gather input from the membership on how the chamber can help and where it needs to focus in the coming years. MacDonald will work towards reinstating Chamber events that couldn’t be held because of the COVID-19 pandemic in an online format and work with the membership and the board to develop a strategic plan for 2021-2024.
