Monica Thomsen Seeks District 9 Seat on Pictou County Council

Walkerville resident Monica Thomsen announced her candidacy for the Municipality of the Pictou County District 9 seat in the upcoming municipal election, set for October 19.  

 Thomsen stated her key strength is her ability to work as part of a team, adding she looks forward to working with neighboring council districts and the Municipality to move our communities forward. One area of focus will be seeking funding and user groups like the Pictou County Trails Association to lead the necessary improvements to the Thorburn Spur Line Trail.

Thomsen is the executive director of the Nova Scotia Trucking Safety Association. Having worked in the occupational health and safety profession for 32 years and has extensive experience in the transportation, forestry, manufacturing, mining, and renewable energy sectors.  

She is also on the Trucking Human Resource Sector Council—Atlantic, Atlantic Provincial Trucking Association Safety Council, and the Nova Scotia Safety Leadership Steering Committee. Thomsen is also a certified health and safety consultant with the Canadian Society of Safety Engineering.
