It was a very exciting day for graduating students at St. FX University.
At a special ceremony Wednesday, members of the Class of 2026 received their coveted class ring, also known as the X-Ring.
More than 1,000 senior students received their ring at the ceremony.
The guest speaker at the ceremony was 2001 St. FX graduate and leading mental performance coach Dr. Beth McCharles.

McCharles, in her address to X-Ring recipients, offered some advice as they plan their future after graduation; being durable, be adaptable and embrace vitality and a zest for life.
McCharles says the X-Ring means the past, the present and the future, an opportunity to join the most unmatched community of all time as alumni.

University President Andy Hakin says in wearing the ring it means upholding a legacy of kindness, of service, giving back and understanding the importance of community.
Hakin says the X-Ring will connect students to an extraordinary network of Xavierians around the world.
A tradition at X-Ring is the graduating class and the Alumni Association work together to choose a member of the campus community to receive an honourary X-Ring who embodies the Xavierian spirit. This year’s recipient is long-time chemistry professor Dr. Gerry Marangoni.
