The District of St. Mary’s says more than half of eligible voters in Saturday’s District 8 Special Election have already cast ballots. Telephone and Internet voting opened last weekend. Voting
will continue 24 hours a day until polls close at 7 p.m. Saturday evening.
There are 277 eligible voters. As of Thursday 93 people voted on the web and 64 over the phone. That works out to 34 percent of eligible voters who used the internet to make their choice and 23 per cent used their phone to vote.
There are two names on the ballot, James Harpell and James M. Bingley.
The District 8 seat became vacant after incumbent Peggy Kaiser-Kirk resigned in October.
