Municipal, Provincial and Federal Governments Contribute to Trenton Park Upgrade

Aug 9, 2019 | Local News

The Trenton Park is getting some major upgrades,  thanks to help from all three levels of government.

Central Nova MP Sean Fraser, on behalf of rural economic development minister Bernadette Jordan Minister of Rural Economic Development; Guysborough Sheet Harbour MLA Lloyd Hines, and Trenton Mayor Shannon MacInnis, were all on hand earlier today to announce funding for improvements to the park.

The work will include the creation of an accessible playground with a recreation ground, upgraded pool and picnic area, renovated trails, increased parking, renovated walking bridges, ponds and fishing docks, a fenced-in dog park and renovated canteen.

The feds are investing over $2.2 million, with the province contributing over $1.2 million, and $245,518 coming from the Town of Trenton. MacInnis said there are also corporate contributions.

MacInnis said the funding and upgrades are a win for everyone in Pictou county, as the people from all over the area use the park.
