Following a suggestion at a property services meeting, council for the Municipality of the County of Pictou is looking at establishing an ad-hoc climate change committee.
District 9 councillor Peter Boyles brought up the topic of an ad-hoc climate change committee after attending a recent Nova Scotia Federation of Municipalities meeting. Boyles said climate change was the topic of a presentation offered during the event and decided to take it back to council.
In January, council will discuss the matter during a planning session for the coming year. Boyles says the eventual aim is to make Pictou County climate friendly. He said he feels climate change is something council has to look at, noting council members are elected to be leaders in the community.
