Once again this year, the Naomi Society is hosting the Coldest Night of the Year fund-raising event. It will be held on February 28th. Proceeds will go towards the Society’s capital campaign to raise money to build 10 units of affordable housing for women and children fleeing violence.
Patrick McKenna, second stage housing coordinator, says there are several ways you can register.
McKenna says last year the event raised more than $50,000, from 242 walkers. McKenna says this year, they hope to have 400 walkers and a fund-raising goal of $100,000.
There are two walking options, one for two kilometres and another for five. The walk at 5 begins at the Antigonish Market Square mall. The route will take walkers up to the old number 4 highway and down the active transportation corridor through Main Street and back to the mall
