The town of New Glasgow is putting together a pilot project for a Community Shoveling Support Program.
The project would pair seniors in need with volunteers who will clear their walkways over the winter. The pilot will involve between 6 and 8 seniors in town, to be chosen by senior staff.
The goal is to allow seniors greater mobility in the winter months, and also to foster community connection.
In the spring, the program will be evaluated and brought back to council to decide whether to continue and possibly expand the project.
