New Glasgow Police and Vehicle Transportation Inspection officers teamed up last Tuesday with checkpoints in the town with a focus on vehicle safety, driver compliance and education.
More than 400 vehicles were stopped and inspected. Police say a number of violations were detected under the Motor Vehicle Act including invalid inspection stickers, no inspection stickers displayed, no vehicle registration, excessive window tint, fake or fraudulent inspection stickers and vehicles with failed safety inspections.
Police will also be increasing enforcement throughout the summer related to impaired driving, excessive speeding, distracted driving, wearing seat belts and aggressive driving.
