New Glasgow Police say a 71-year-old male pedestrian suffered life-threatening injuries after being struck by a truck on a crosswalk Monday afternoon. The driver of the truck, a 50-year-old man, was not hurt.
Police say officers, Fire Department and EHS personnel were called to the scene at the intersection of Provost and MacLean Streets at 1:25 p.m.
Investigators say they learned that a Dodge truck was travelling southbound on Provost Street and struck a pedestrian when making a left turn onto MacLean Street.
The driver of the truck has been charged with Failing to Yield to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk, Driving without Insurance, Displaying Number Plates Issued for Another Vehicle and Operating an Unregistered Vehicle.
New Glasgow Police continue to investigate.
