Officers will begin piloting the body-worn cameras by end of January 2021. These video-audio recordings from the body-worn cameras will allow law enforcement officers to demonstrate transparency to the community, by documenting evidence, recording officer observations, and deterring illegal and inappropriate behaviors.
The two-month long study will explore the feasibility of deploying cameras in the policing community.
New Glasgow Regional Police state the main goals of the project are strengthening trust, accountability and community transparency through service delivery and new technology.
