New Glasgow Regional Police say a Halifax man is facing a number of theft related charges after items were stolen from two local businesses.
Police say on December 20th, it received a complaint from a local sports store that a man had damaged a display case and stole merchandise in excess of $10,000. The suspect left the scene before officers arrived.
On December 24th, two off-duty officers spotted the suspect that was believed involved in the earlier theft.

Police allege the off-duty members saw the suspect commit a theft at another business. The man was later arrested outside the store.
45-year-old Kevin Charles Purcell has charged with theft over $5,000; Theft under $5,000; two counts of Possession of Property Obtained by Crime, two counts of failing to comply with a probation order, Resisting and Obstructing a Peace Officer, and Mischief.
Purcell has been remanded into custody and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
