New Glasgow Regional Police lay charges Following Incident on Chisholm Street where Two Officers Were Stabbed

New Glasgow Regional Police have charged a 26-year-old Pictou County man in connection with a stabbing incident on Chisholm Street in New Glasgow.  Two police officers were injured.

Police say at around 12:35 Friday afternoon, while assisting New Glasgow Regional Police, two officers with the Stellarton Police and one officer with Westville Police were called to a follow-up  of a well-being check of a man at a local home.

New Glasgow Police say during the follow-up, there was an altercation and two of the officers were stabbed.  The two officers, one from Westville Police and the other from Stellarton Police were taken to the Aberdeen Hospital for non-life-threating injuries.  They were treated at hospital and released.

The 26-year-old man has been charged with Attempted Murder, three counts of Uttering Threats, two counts each  of Breach of Probation,  Assault  with a Weapon, and Possession of a Dangerous Weapon; and one count of Resisting Arrest.  He is currently being held in police custody

Also charged is a 60-year-old Pictou woman with Obstructing a Police Officer.

The New Glasgow Regional Police Major Crime Unit is continuing its investigation.
