New Glasgow Regoinal Police responded to a disturbance at the Africentric Heritage Park on Vale Road recently. The incident occurred last Wednesday, where officers arrived on scene to find a group of individuals in a dispute regarding the appropriate and acceptable use of the historic space. Police were able to de-escalate the situation. No charges are anticipated.
The Africentre Heritage Park is a sacred space the commemorates the past, reflects on the present and provides a foundation for the cultural future of Nova Scotians of African descent. Police urge all community members to treat such areas with respect and dignity.
