The provincial government recently released its 2026-27 five-year highway improvement plan.
The plan includes investing an estimated $465 million in 2026-27 in major highway and road projects, repaving, bridge replacements, maintenance and other infrastructure work.
New projects added for Guysborough-Tracadie include the Aulds Cove scale replacement on Highway 104, paving on Route 344 from Mulgrave town line north to Highway 104, paving on Larry’s River Road from 2.1 km west of New Harbour Lundy Road easterly, and bridge projects for the Pirate Harbour Bridge and Upper Big Tracadie Culvert.

Guysborough-Tracadie MLA Greg Morrow said there is a lot of work that goes into maintaining roads across the province, noting his riding is no different. Morrow also pointed to Guysborough-Tracadie being the largest geographical constituency in the province so there is a lot of work to do, adding he is proud of the work that’s been done over the last few years.
Morrow said a section of highway 316 saw work this summer in the Charles Cove Area.
