The Nova Scotia government announced a new program allowing folks to access farmland to begin or grow their business.
Guysborough Tracadie MLA and Agriculture Minister Greg Morrow made the announcement last Thursday at at the Nova Scotia Federation of Agriculture’s Farmers’ Forum in Truro. The Nova Scotia Farm Loan Board will deliver the Program for Accessing Agricultural Land. The program includes $5 million over the next three years from the farm loan board’s capital funds.

Morrow said the program is about supporting agricultural land in Nova Scotia, noting it will include new entrants into agriculture and farm succession, while also supporting local food production and consumption.
Guidelines and applications will be available on the site in mid-January.
