Nova Scotians Urged to Wear Pink in Stand Up Against Bullying Day in Nova Scotia

Sep 8, 2022 | Local News

It is a day to wear pink. Today is Stand Up Against Bullying Day in Nova Scotia.

Schools in the province are encouraging students to wear pink. On its twitter account, the Strait Regional Centre for Education invited everyone to celebrate and promote positive, safe, inclusive and healthy learning environments and relationships.

Stand Up Against Bullying Day was proclaimed in Nova Scotia in 2007, to be held the second Thursday at the start of each school year.

The inspiration of the day came from the actions of Central Kings Rural High School Grade 12 students Travis Price and David Shepherd who rallied behind a new student to the school who was bullied for simply wearing pink.
