NSSAF Approves Fall Sports Plan

Sep 29, 2020 | Sports

The Nova Scotia School Athletic Federation’s Board of Governors has approved a plan for Fall sports. On Thursday, the grouping size moves from 10 to 50 which allows the NSSAF to offer additional sports this fall.

There will be some changes, including no overnight travel and no provincial tournaments in team sports. Also to minimize travel, teams will meet at a neutral site where appropriate.

In team sports, including baseball, soccer and volleyball, four regional champions will advance to a provincial semi-final with winners playing in a provincial championship. The sites of semi-finals and finals will be determined by the two schools involved and the federation.

In individual sports, golf and cross country, the top four individual finishers in each category will advance to a provincial final. There will be no provincial team championships for individual sports for 2020.

NSSAF executive director Stephen Gallant said the plan could change along with further easing of restrictions from the government.
