Just two weeks after the municipal election, there is already a vacancy on District of St. Mary’s
Council. The municipality announced on its Facebook page that District 8 Councillor Peggy Kaiser-Kirk has resigned. Kaiser-Kirk who stepped down Friday, served eight years on Council was re-elected by acclamation.
The news of Kaiser-Kirk’s resignation comes days after the new council was sworn in. District 3 and 5 Councillor Greg Wier was elected by his fellow councillors as Warden, and District 6 councillor James Fuller was chosen Deputy Warden. Council also decided to reduce the terms of Warden and Deputy Warden to two years. In a statement, Wier thanked Kaiser-Kirk for her years of service.
