PHAST posts good results at a New Brunswick Swim Meet

Port Hawkesbury Antigonish Swim Team (PHAST) powered through three intense days at the New Brunswick Long Course Championships, May 27th-29th. Nine of PHAST’s Senior and Junior age group squad, with NB qualifying times, competed at the Canada Games Aquatic Centre in Saint John, New Brunswick, against 20 teams from across the maritime provinces with a pool of 315 athletes, all qualifying for finals in their respective age groups. Jacob Bennett swam to 8th in the 50m Freestyle and 100m Backstroke, 7th in the 100m Butterfly, 6th in the 50m, 14th in the 200m Backstroke and 5th in the 100m Freestyle, breaking the team record! Aidan Doucet swam to 10th in the 100m Butterfly, and 8th in the 50m Butterfly! Paula Garcia took 5th in the 50m and 6th in the 100m Freestyle, 4th in the 100m and 14th in the 100m Butterfly, 8th in the 50m, and 4th in the 200m Backstroke! Jessica MacKinnon took 8th in the 100m, 7th in the both the 50m and 200m Backstroke! Morley MacKinnon swam to 14th in the 50m, and 11th in the 100m Freestyle, 5th in the 50m, 8th in the 100m, and 6th in the 200m Backstroke! Jakalee Myette stroked to 13th in the 400m Freestyle! Alex Penner snatched 8th in the 100m Breaststroke and 16th in the 50m Butterfly! Matthew Penner won a silver medal for his 2nd place finish in the 1500m Freestyle, 4th in the 100m and 200m, 8th in the 50m Breaststroke, 8th in the 200m Medley, and 6th in the 50m Butterfly! Carter van de Wiel took 4th in the 200m and 50m, and 5th in the 100m Breaststroke, setting three team records, 15th in the 50m Freestyle, and 16th in the 50m Backstroke! PHAST’s women’s relay team of Paula Garcia, Jessica MacKinnon, Morley MacKinnon, and Jakalee Myette took 8th in the 400m Medley relay and 5th in the 400m Freestyle relay, and the men’s squad of Jacob Bennett, Aidan Doucet, Alex Penner, and Carter van de Wiel swam to 4th in the 400m Men’s Medley and 5th in the 400m Freestyle relay, setting two new team records
