Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library Ramping up Fund-Raising

Jun 12, 2026 | Local News

The Pictou-Antigonish Regional Library is stepping up fund-raising, as it grapples with years of no increases in their core funding from the province.

Peoples’ Place Library, Antigonish

Chief Librarian Eric Stackhouse says a donation station was established at the Antigonish Town and County Library on Wednesday.  Donation stations will be set up at other branches by the end of next week.
Stackhouse says PARL is making it clear to their users that funding from the province could be flat for the next number of years, so it will need to fund-raise 10 per cent of its operating budget.  That’s an increase from three per cent, representing about $140,000 this year.

Canadian Radio Awards: 989 XFM Small Market Station of The Year

Broadcast Dialogue has announced the winners of the inaugural Canadian Radio Awards, which we’ve dubbed “The Howards” after our publisher emeritus Howard Christensen.

When Howard, a radio veteran and one of the original Broadcast News anchors, founded Broadcast Dialogue in 1992, he saw a need for both timely delivery of Canadian broadcast industry news, but also recognized the importance of creating a sense of community.

989 XFM is very proud to be the winner of the 2020 Station of Year – Small Market award.
