Pictou County Curling Clubs Planning a Curling Day in Pictou County

Nov 13, 2019 | Local News

You won’t know if you like it until you give it a shot.

That’s the message from Donalda Buckingham, curling enthusiast and co-chair of last weekend’s Grand Slam of Curling event in Pictou County. As a means of continuing to grow local interest in the game, four Pictou County curling clubs are hosting Curling Day in Pictou County.

Between 1 and 3 p.m. on Friday, residents are asked to visit the New Caledonian Curling Club in Pictou, Bluenose Curling Club in New Glasgow, Stellar Curling Club in Stellarton, and the Westville Curling Club to give the sport a shot. Visitors are asked to wear clean indoor sneakers, a lightweight jacket, loose comfortable pants, and a pair of gloves or mittens. Children under 12 must wear a helmet.

For kids aged 12 and up there are junior programs at the New Caledonian Club and the Bluenose Club.

For kids under 12, the Little Rock program is offered at the Bluenose Curling Club and wheelchair curling is also supported at the Bluenose Curling Club and New Caledonian Curling Club.

Buckingham said everyone is invited and encouraged anyone who saw something they liked during the Grand Slam to come out and give it a try. Each club will offer prize draws.
