A Pictou Landing man faces charges following a standoff with police.
Shortly before 3 a.m. Thursday, members of Pictou District RCMP responded to a call on Eagle Road in Pictou Landing of a man threatening to burn another person’s home down. Police went to the home to find the suspect had left the area, and returned to his own home nearby. The two police officers located the suspect inside his home on Beach Road, and while they were there, the suspect told them to leave or he would shoot them.
Additional RCMP resources, including the RCMP’s Emergency Response Team, assisted at the scene. Police arrested the suspect several hours later when he walked out of his home, unarmed, just before 10 a.m. No one was injured during the incident.
40-year old Darryl Joseph Toney of Pictou Landing faces two counts of Breaching Conditions and three counts of Uttering Threats. He was remanded into custody and returns to court in Pictou Friday. The investigation is ongoing.
