Pictou West MLA Marco MacLeod recently offered some thoughts on the last year and what to expect in 2026.
Serving as the ministerial assistant to the Minister of Energy, MacLeod is also the vice chair of the public accounts committee, and a member of both the internal affairs and private and local bills committees, and member of the house of assembly management commission.

He said 2025 started off with the province bringing in legislation regarding free trade between provinces, adding he was happy to be a part of the team in moving that forward. MacLeod also said they were able to do a lot of paving over the summer.
As for the new year, MacLeod said the biggest item he has heard about from residents is affordability and pointed to the raising of the minimum wage two times next year. He wished residents a safe and happy holidays.
