The Port Hawkesbury YMCA might have closed on February 22, but on March 1 the Port Hawkesbury Fitness Centre opened to fill the void left by the exiting fitness provider.
The new fitness centre is located in the space where the YMCA had set up shop: the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre. The majority of fitness equipment used by the YMCA was town owned, so the new gym is essentially the same as it was before the Y made its exit. However, the facility was given a face lift with fresh paint, a newly waxed floor, and a deep clean.
With that, the fitness passes offered by the town-run centre offer locals the chance to use additional facilities like the Strait Area Pool, court time at the SAERC gym, and ice time at the Port Hawkesbury Civic Centre.
