Port Hawkesbury Town Council celebrated a young athlete during last night’s meeting.
Mayor Brenda Chisholm-Beaton told last night’s combined committee-of-the-whole and special public meeting that Luke MacDonnell was part of the gold medal winning Canadian team at the International Cheer Union Junior and World Championship which was held in April at Disney World. The event featured over 5,000 athletes representing 50 countries, competing in 33 divisions.

Calling the gold medal performance exceptional and world-class, the mayor said MacDonnell’s achievement put Port Hawkesbury on the map globally and is a testament to his hard work and commitment to excel.
Before presenting MacDonnell with a certificate from the town, Chisholm-Beaton said this is a moment of pride for town council and the entire community.
