Nova Scotia Premier and Pictou East MLA Tim Houston called 2025 a good year for the province.
Speaking about Pictou East, he pointed to important investments including the breaking ground on a 144-space replacement for the Glen Haven manor and the issuing of an RFP for another long-term care facility in Westville. He also mentioned the 58 new child care spaces, including 16 for infants, set to open in February at the Plymouth Community Centre.

When it comes to challenges, Houston said the cost of living is tough with a lot of people struggling. As for what’s on the horizon for the province, Houston said the most signifigant opportunities are in the energy sector, with Wind West, onshore and off shore gas, and offshore oil.
Houston said we live in a great province, and he is excited about the future.
