The province announced regional emergency readiness grants for seven emergency management organizations, including two in the local area. A release form the province states the grants, totalling around $1 million, will go for essentials such as communications infrastructure, staff, shared office spaces and training.

The funding is for projects spanning one to four years. The EMO groups set to get funding are in Pictou, Guysborough, Colchester, Cumberland, Digby, and Lunenburg counties.
